A large European study has added to the considerable evidence that regular soda pop consumption contributes to early death.
The study demonstrated that even a single soda pop per day is detrimental; however, drinking two sodas daily increased the chancesof dying from virtually all circulatory and digestive diseases. The results were similar for both artificially-sweetened and regular soda.
The study included data from more than 450,000 people in the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition cohort, with an average follow-up period of more than 16 years.
