Vitamin D has been linked to cancer prevention for at least a decade.

This link was confirmed stronger than ever in a study published in PLOS One, April 2016.

Researchers at UC San Diego conducted an analysis of all the data gathered over the years and concluded that Vitamin D levels of 40 ng/ml or higher are associated with a 67 percent lowered risk of various cancers—particularly breast cancer—compared with levels of 20 ng/ml.

Widespread deficiencies—even using the low government standard

According to many natural health advocates, a 50 to 70 ng/ml level would be more ideal; however, a level of 20 ng has been regarded as adequate since 2010 by the National Academy of Medicine.

Vitamin D deficiency is a major problem in some parts of the world and especially the U.S., largely because of the wide use of sunscreens which block the body’s absorption of Vitamin D, and indoor, sedentary lifestyles.

Before the year 2000, most doctors didn’t understand much about Vitamin D and rarely considered deficiencies.

But Dr. Michael Hollick, one of the world’s leading Vitamin D researchers, and other scientists began investigating and found that about 50 percent of U.S. general population is deficient.

Fifty percent of children between the ages of 1-5 are deficient, and up to 70 percent of children 6-11.

Among senior citizens over 70 the rate could be as high as 95 percent, according to some estimates.

Vitamin D supports… everything!

What has science discovered about Vitamin D’s incredible importance to our health ONLY in recent years?

It is not just a bone and teeth builder. It is involved in biocellular machinery of every cell and tissue in the body.

According to Dr. Michael Hollick, the proper kind of Vitamin D could prevent chronic diseases that claim about a million lives a year worldwide.

These diseases include, as well as breast cancer, colectoral and prostate cancer, cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, heart attack, stroke and autoimmune diseases, as well as colds, flu, infections, osteoporosis and rheumatoid arthritis.

What is Vitamin D?

First of all, Vitamin D is not a ‘regular’ vitamin. It is actually a steroid hormone that your body is designed to obtain only from the sun.

If life conditions do not include adequate sunlight exposure, or if health deficiencies necessitate a boost of Vitamin D, then  a supplement is required. In that case Vitamin D3 is the supplement type that most closely matches sunlight.

Those most susceptible to Vitamin D deficiency are black people and other dark-skinned people who no longer live in the sun as their ancestors did. Dark skin absorbs sunlight Vitamin D much slower than light skin.

Other people who are susceptible to deficiency include: People over 50; vegetarians who don’t compensate with extra sunlight; people who are overweight or obese; and pregnant women.

The overwhelming evidence says the cancer prevention/Vitamin D link is real. It would be to our advantage to pay attention to it!

All of us need to recognize the importance of the sun to our health. Exposed wisely, sun is not a cancer causer, it is a cancer PREVENTER!
