Autoimmune disease is an illness that occurs when the body tissues are attacked by its own immune system. Diagnosing them has proven difficult. Individuals seeking help on average see six different doctors before being diagnosed properly, and 45% of them get labeled as hypochondriacs in early stages. What’s worse, HALF of all cases involving women are told nothing is wrong for the first 5 years, giving these diseases ample time to take root.
The consequences have reached epidemic proportions. Americans are now more likely to suffer from the over 100 types of autoimmune diseases than heart disease or cancer, and they cut an average of 15 years off our lifespan while dramatically lowering quality of life.
It wasn’t always like this and it doesn’t have to stay this way. While there are multiple causes that lead to autoimmune disease, the biggest culprit by far is the non-digestion of proteins. To understand this, we need to understand the role digestion and associated enzymes play in this process.
Raw foods contain the enzymes you need to properly digest. As soon as you cook them at or above 118º F, the enzymes are destroyed and it becomes entirely up to your body to properly digest everything. Digestion takes priority over all other bodily processes, but when this fails, we either die or, more often, develop autoimmune diseases. The latter happens because the body turns on itself. This happens when the non-digested remnants closely resemble body tissue. White blood cells can’t tell the difference between the invader they know is there and your own body, and massive damage occurs.
Let’s use casein as an example.
Casein is one of the proteins found in dairy products. In the correct molecular structure it helps slow down protein digestion. Bodybuilders take advantage of this when building muscle. In the wrong structure it causes Type II diabetes. Casein’s structure changes because of the antibodies being given to cows. While the antibiotics are beneficial to the cows, the medication carries over into the milk we drink, which is proving harmful to humans.
The harm starts with casein’s molecular structure. We are meant to digest proteins down to no more than three amino acids bound together. All the processing milk goes through makes it hard for our system to break casein down into manageable pieces. Many times casein stays in an amino acid sequence of 7 instead of only a few. If you have a weak or “leaky” gut, these larger 7 bonded amino acid structures get into your system. Your body recognizes there is an invader, which is only a non-digested protein, but it’s recognized as foreign because it’s not just 1, 2 or 3 amino acids. Your body then sends white blood cells in to get rid of the casein proteins. However, since the molecular structure of these 7 amino acids are so similar to that of the pancreas tissues, the cells attack the pancreas as well, thus leading to diabetes because it affects insulin creation.
Casein is just one protein, one example. Other undigested proteins cause other autoimmune problems, like undigested acidic meat leading to rheumatoid arthritis and undigested wheat leading to celiac disease. What disease is created is based on the amino acid structure of that protein and what tissue in the body it resembles.
The good news is you can eliminate this worry from your life with proper, complete digestion.

Optimal Flora Plus™ Another way to ensure full digestion is to have a flourishing gut flora. What causes flora depletion: stress, carbonated beverages, laxatives, birth control pills, coffee, natural aging, and the biggest one is antibiotics. Antibiotics kill not only harmful strains of bacteria, but also the ones we need for health and wellbeing.
Adult bodies contain approximately 3 lbs. of friendly flora in the intestine. Flora have a hard time getting into the bowels to colonize but our product’s flora are patent-proven to withstand the acidity and temperatures that destroy most flora supplements. When you’re lacking in natural probiotics, you’re more susceptible to disease and illness.
What isn’t well known about probiotics (flora) is that there are nine strains of flora, each designated to different parts of the digestive tract. You need all of them to ensure full benefits. Optimal™ Flora Plus contains all nine strains in precise amounts.
This was developed with input from the world’s leading probiotic authority, Dr. Khem Shahani. It nutritionally helps with upset stomach, fatigue, frequent colds and flu, and sensitivity to dairy products. It also supports intestinal health, improves digestion, and fights against toxins and infections.
